“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
I am grieved that there are so many of my brothers and sisters who feel unsafe, who feel marginalized, who feel trampled upon. My heart goes out to those who fear for their lives. To those who have felt the weight of how our world has changed today, I am standing with you. My ears are inclined to you if you are willing to share your stories with me. I would love to hear from you; whether you want to share your political views, your hurt, your happiness even… I want to hear from you today.
I am praying for you all today. I am praying for our country. I am even praying for the man who will now become our president. But in the midst of all, I am going to choose to set my eyes on the giver of the peace that surpasses all understanding… I am craving it today, I am craving my Savior.
I am sorry that I don’t know what to say to those of you who are hurting, I don’t have the magic words to take away your pain. I am sorry I am not versed in politics, I will strive to be a more educated citizen. All I know to do right now is listen, all I know to do is get on my knees in prayer.
My friends, I am standing with you… All of you.
-Soli Deo Gloria
